Hello Navy League members -

I just want to give you a quick follow-up from our Tuesday night appreciation event. We had a wonderful host in Dave Holmly at the Banner Bank on Midway Blvd. He graciously opened his branch to us and it was a fine setting for the evening. I'd also like to say thanks to our other sponsors: EWA Government Systems Inc., Northrop Grumman Corp. and Whidbey Island Bank as well as our participating members. Together we were able to fund a superb cocktail party complete with hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine and soft drinks. Approximately 50 members of the VAQ-137 Rooks and VAQ-141 Shadowhawks attended along with their leadership teams. Skippers Edgarton and Pugh did an outstanding job filling us in on their squadron activities and introducing us to a few of their outstanding Sailors. In turn, I had the pleasure of thanking them on behalf of all of you for their selfless service to our nation. It was a first rate Navy League event and I'm sure a topic of discussion in their respective squadron work spaces Wednesday morning.

All in all...a job extremely well done. I'd like to personally thank OHAC members Jo Balda, Sally Jacobs, Kari Holmly and John McMahon for their individual work in making this event a great success. If I forgot anyone else involved I apologize. I have a touch of "old timers" disease. See you at the USS Lincoln tour on the 22nd of June or the Oak Harbor 4th of July parade (celebrated this year on 3 July!!!). If you can't make either of those events...and I do hope you can....we'll look for you at our regular meeting in September.
